When Kate left school at 16 she initially worked with her Dad in a timber yard in Greenford helping in the office. She then went to an interview with H R Owen Ltd the Rolls Royce Dealers, part of the Heron Motor Group in Perivale on the Western Avenue and started work as a Trainee NCR Optical Font Machine Operator. I was Depot Accountant at Greenford but was working in Saville Motors, a new aquisition, in Stratford-on-Avon at the time, setting up the accounts department on to the Kalamazoo Computer System. My depot Accountants role at Greenford was being used to train an accountant who I would swap with and return to Greenford in August 1974.
